In 1997, John Rowley and his wife Marcia co-founded International Cruise & Excursions, Inc. (ICE), which introduced cruising into the world of vacation ownership. John’s background in the high-tech industry was key in the company’s developing, supporting and servicing a unique global network of travel and technology alliances among leading corporations, resorts, cruise lines, vacation vendors and travel providers.

As chairman and CEO, John combines his background in technology with business management experience to direct ICE’s continued growth and expansion.

ICE, a unique global cruise and vacation distribution channel, has been profiled in trade publications internationally for its innovation and success and has received dozens of industry awards, including three prestigious Circle of Excellence Awards from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). The company has been honored for sales and technology accomplishments by almost every major cruise line and has received successive Arizona Corporate Excellence (ACE) Awards.

ICE is a trustee member of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) and John serves on the ARDA Board of Directors.

Prior to co-founding ICE, John worked for several technology giants including Intel, Computer Sciences, Corporation and Tektronix. He spent more than 10 years developing high technology software companies for leading venture capital funds before electing to develop privately held corporations in Arizona with Marcia. In 2006, ICE debuted in the number one position on The Business Journal’s list of top women-owned businesses, as well as its list of top travel agencies.

Teams of ICE employees have worked for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul, Make-A-Wish and St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, among other organizations. Hearts & Hands directly supports Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC) 911, an alliance of animal welfare organizations, and A New Leaf, which works with families in crisis. The program was inducted into the ARDA Circle of Excellence in 2007.

On an international level, Marcia has been dedicated to supporting Christel House International, which focuses on helping children around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient members of society, since the organization began. ICE is a Christel House Alliance Partner and Marcia serves on their board. In 2006, Christel DeHaan, founder and president of Christel House, recognized Marcia personally for her passionate support.

Marcia’s love of travel and dedication to excellence has been at the foundation of ICE’s phenomenal growth and success.
